I invested in stream 5 years ago. Today they announced a $15m Series A led by Jeff Richards at GGV, with participation from Dick Costolo and Adam Bain at 01 Advisors.
When I invested, Stream was focused on APIs for activity feeds, and they recently added a chat API too.
Speaking of activity feeds, in 2003, I came up with a project at Friendster I called “Friend Tracker”. Friendster failed to properly execute on this idea, and eventually Facebook launched their “News Feed” in 2006. A few years later, Facebook acquired Friendster’s patents, including one that was related to activity feeds.
It’s exciting to see Stream doing so well now, and this a reminder that startup investing requires some patience.
