Cerbos secures $7.5 million extended seed funding

8-Bit Capital portfolio company Cerbos has announced a new round of funding as well as their new managed cloud service.

Cerbos is excited to announce the launch of Cerbos Cloud in private beta! Cerbos Cloud is a cloud-hosted control plane for the Cerbos open source product. Its initial release is designed to streamline the development, testing and distribution of authorization policies, vastly reducing the time and effort to set up, manage and operate Cerbos instances.

Cerbos Cloud’s first release offers a managed CI/CD pipeline that can test and build optimized policy bundles that are securely delivered to connected Cerbos instances instantly. This enables a robust Git-ops workflow for distributing authorization policy changes with high visibility while keeping developers in full control of their environment. With Cerbos Cloud, developers can now focus on building their core product while enjoying a more elegant and scalable solution to user authorization.

In addition to the launch, Cerbos has closed a $7.5 million extended seed round led by OMERS Ventures with participation from notable angel investors: Ryan King (co-founder and CTO of Chime), Zeynep Inanoglu Ozdemir (former CMO of Palo Alto Networks), Zach Holman (early GitHub engineer), Zach Lloyd (founder and CEO of Warp) and Lewis Tuff (CTO of Brevan Howard Digital). Cerbos has raised $11 million to date; the initial seed round was in 2021 led by Crane, with the support of Earlybird Digital East, Seedcamp, 8-bit Capital, Connect Ventures, HelloWorld, Tiny, AceCap and OSS Capital. The new funds will be used to advance Cerbos’ offerings and support our continued growth trajectory.
